4. No No Nanette!
WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY, DAYTON, OHIO
Taking on ensemble duties in Wright State’s production of No, No, Nanette was uniquely challenging. The dance demands of this show, choreographed by Michael Baxter included complex tap and jazz numbers, partner dancing, and self-accompanying on ukulele. The ensemble contributions to this show were truly next-level.
The very talented ensemble offers sharp characterizations and heightens the innate effervescence of many spirited numbers including a charming ukulele finale.
Dayton937, Russell Florence, Jr.
The large ensemble does a great job with the many dances and in maintaining fully committed characters in each scene.
No, No, Nanette is certainly a throwback sort of show: one with a corny story, but with a few well-known songs and supporting some magnificent dances. Wright State University provides a strong staging of this rarely mounted musical, including a talented student cast.
